Deangelo Lawson - After hearing Lecrae's Anomoly, I had to delete 6 albums from iTunes. After
I hear Trips full album, hopefully I wont have to delete 4 more albums. I
just dont see the message behind this song, and I definitely dont wanna
hear BANG BANG BANG when I listen to music, or else I would listen to Chief
Keef. These guys are christians, and they should take into consideration
wether God is pleased with this music. I wont say they're wrong for this
song, but how does this glorify God in any way shape or form? Tedashii
about to be the only Christian rapper who I listen to.
Its starting to become the thing for Christian artists to rap about
controversial issues and justify it by applying the bible to it. For
example, Trips first verse he says:
"Tryna tell them boys to never leave the crib alone"
"Cause I keep one in my car and I got two at home"
"They different kinds but they do the same thang"
"Double edge double barrel BANG BANG"
"Im flipping the page, Im trigga happy, a clip and a gauge (gun sounds)"
"... hitting the stage, hit you with truth, its in every phrase (gun
sounds)"
Obviously he is refering to the bible, I know this, but the rest of the
world chooses to rap about guns, and I expect different from these dudes. I
guess they are embracing the culture, so they say. Last thing an unbeliever
or a fellow brother in Christ needs is a song with more gun talk,
regardless of what they mean by it. Its like promoting marriage, while
rapping about fornication, with explicit moans and groans in the
background. Thats just my thought of it, but im not gonna count Trip out
cause he is one of a few Christian rappers who have literally told the
story of Jesus through his music, refering to "The Good News" parts 1,2,&
3. And Lecrae aint one of em.
sonnimotton - You guys can never be satisfied. Go ahead and listen to your Hillsong. He
can collab with Michael W Smith and you guys would have something to say.
(I love both artists, by the way)
joyce gula - Y'all are acting just like the Pharisees! You're saying that this isn't
truly gospel music and it isn't representing Christ, but isn't the point of
being a people of outreach actually OUTREACHING?! Suppose I'm an atheist. I
wouldn't be caught dead listening to your stupid "Christian only" music.
It's this kind of music that would introduce me to Christ. Even prophets
used things that were familiar to people to explain something to them that
was unfamiliar to them (ex. Elijah with Leviathan and Jesus with parables).
This music is bringing more people to Christ than your "for Christians
only" music. Think about that.
(TYP) JOVAN STONE - Decline!!!! Trip Lee y'all has officially become an robot or should I say
an clone cause this is 100% grade A undisputed, undeniable, uncontested
#CLONEmusic Romans12:1-2
steeko hoopdy - Trip, Lecrae, Tedashii,, these are hiphop artists in the truest form.
Anyone hating on these guys as Christians, you most likely are not
followers of hiphop. These dudes are just like me, a hiphop scholar. We're
not in it for the top of the charts or the coolest stuff, they like the
music... true hiphop, like outkast, pharcyde, tribe called quest etc. If
you are Christian but don't like this music and think it's evil etc, then
let me tell you, you most probably will never reach the YOUTH on these
STREETS! Hiphop is a sound of my generation and the generation from the
street. Hiphop is the new language for the youth and it has arrived. Not
everyone likes hiphop but it's here. It's like smartphones, you may not
like them, but everyone is using them.
Been a hiphop sholar, collector since 1989 and saw the golden era. These
guys are hiphop and are the fresh air that people like me have been waiting
for since DC Talk, ETW, etc.
RESPECT them for what they do and the hate they get from Christian and Non
Christians. Trips new album is QUALITY, not corny, half baked but quality
sounds.
Let's all take a moment to appreciate this group of rappers for changing
the game and doing things right.. the time is right and the world is
listening.

Charity Smith - Help me out here, what is the "Manolo" in this song talking about, I'm very
confused.
Enoch Alvarez - Trip lee said "I'm Not a christian rapper, I'm a rapper."
Ignorant Christians.... that's exactly why people don't become god like.
With people saying I don't see the message behind this. If your really
christian you would understand the fact trip lee made this song and except
it. I am a true follower of Christ because of trip lee. He brought me to
God because of songs close to secular rap and shows you the truth when you
want to hear more of trip lee. Just like any other artist if your
interested. I heard a friend of mine who only listens to secular rap and
show'ed me this banger. I was like DANG!
I found out more about trip lee. Heard about his faith and now I want to
know more about god and bringing the truth to my Friends
When you hear
"Bang Bang"
"Turn Up!"
"pop pop pop"
People who listen to secular music and aren't Christians can relate to it
and want to hear more from the artist.
Trip lee is honestly getting people from the hip hop culture and showing
ungodly people the truth. God is good and so is trip lee (but not the
same:). GOD IS WITH US! TURN UP!

Infamous Pony - Hello, I'm struggling with porn addiction. Please pray for me
Rachel Heiks - You guys are tearing artists like Lecrae and Trip Lee up for their music
but have you ever stopped and thought about how many people they've reached
with it? People that wouldn't be caught dead listening to christian music
can listen to music like this and other tracks by these artists and still
be entertained and drawn to it while getting a positive message. You can't
expect all Christian music to fit the cliche cookie cutter definition of
gospel music. You just can't expect that from every artist. I don't think
God is displeased by this as some of you are claiming because Trips purpose
is to reach out to people with his music and spread Gods word. This song is
simply a metaphor for the power of Gods word and maybe someone will crack
open a Bible after hearing this. Just maybe. It gives people who have lived
around violence something to relate to something to understand better. They
know the power and potential a gun holds just like the Bible does. (Excuse
typos. Using phone) Been a fan of trip from the beginning and there's no
doubt his intentions are good.
Jeff kwakye - Well people obviously dont understand the message lol saying that trip lee
is a "robot"now
Ruchie34 - My fav rapper is Bizzle he is 💯.Listen to his song Mr Range Rover, you'll
get what im talking about. His not merely about the beat of the song, his
primary objective is to reach souls,he literally preaches through his songs.
I also listen to Lecrae & the likes too & anyone bashing this song is bound
by religion,Christians can have fun too.Its better to listen to this than
listen to secular music & most of you saying blah, what are ya'll doing for
God's kingdom besides tryna find fault in people who are living their
purpose & fufiling God's purpose 😴
Gloria Kim - wait... you people realize that his "shooter" in this song is the Bible
right...?
Ephesians 6:17 guys...
don't hate if you don't know..
Maximillian Gardner - Here is a full explanation for all those participating in the
Christian/non-Christian argument.
Anything that is wrapped in [brackets] can be ignored by non-Christians if
they do not want to read it.
Manolo is a hebrew word that translates into Immanuel.
Immanuel means "God (is) with us."
Immanuel is also another name of Jesus.
[Isaiah 7-8 and Matthew 1:22-23]
[Immanuel equates to the Messiah and the Son of God.]
[The Messiah and the Son of God is Jesus.]
Please refer to Wikipedia for further explanation on the double naming and
lineage.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Immanuel
This enables TripLee to use the hebrew word Manolo in multiple ways.
When he says it by itself it means, "God is with us."
When he uses it as a pronoun or noun it means, "Jesus."
[Using other assumed Biblical principles he can refer to many more concepts
using just one word]
You can equate this in worldly terms by describing human beings perception
of existence
Modern belief is that human beings have a mind, a body, and a
spirit/soul/etc...
[The Holy Trinity is a God-Head consisting of three distinct beings]
[God the Father, Jesus the Son, and the Holy Spirit]
[Neither of these beings are each other, but all three ARE God.]
For the Christians:
I am a follower of Christ, a Christian, a man of God.
The Holy Bible clearly states to not judge anyone and bear a servants heart.
Those are commands from Jesus and from God.
[Judging Others : Matthew 7:1|Luke 6:37]
[Bearing a servants heart : 2 Corinthians 4:5]
Any music, whatsoever, is man-made and wrapped in sin.
It is wrapped in sin because it is based inside of Creation and made by
sinful men.
We are all sinful. We interpret and interact in sinful ways.
TripLee uses many metaphors from modern influences to explain his concepts
in useful and teaching ways.
It's not meant to be violent. Get over yourself.
For the non-Christians:
Please just take the high road and remember that those whom are truly saved
usually won't argue with you. I respect you for not getting into a heated
debate. Enjoy the music.
Kelsey Hamilton - Bang Bang!! Check out Trip's New Song off his New Album "Rise" #116
#unashamed +Lecrae
Jonas Johnson - lol I never expected to see so many negative comments on this song. Ok this
is going to be a LONG message. 1st off the whole point of the gun
references is to let people know you can use your bible as a weapon. the
Bible is the ultimate Weapon on this earth. use your Weapon, the Holy
Bible, against your opponents i.e. the devil/ demons and also against other
humans that go against God's word(the Bible once again.) to bring them back
into his divine will. and towards yourself to keep YOU and ME in check.
that is why the song has an aggressive beat because sometimes with the
Bible you need to be aggressive reading the word of God to non believers
and so forth. Now the " Got a cabin in Manolo" can be broken down in many
ways . 1st perception, manolo also means high life, the Kingdom of God's
heaven is above us right? so don't you want to have a seat, reserved place,
or in this case "cabin" in HIS Cabin(figuratively speaking). Next one,
Everybody takes in some sort of pride or happiness in their own home. and
in your household you want God in it. "Cabin in Manolo" to me also can
translate that in his House, God is with his family, which im pretty sure
all of us christians want. that's All I can say as far as the negativity I
see written about this song. oh yea also to the dude that quoted Mathew 7:21
that is only for God to judge if someone is calling his name with sincerity
or recognition upon himself. not man. let the scrutiny begin lol. God
bless, everyone.
AyoBonito116 - This song is primarily about comparing the Bible, the unchangeable Word of
God Himself, to a firearm, a weapon that can be used offensively and
defensively on a daily basis to change the world for the greater good. It
is implied by the name “manolo”, that these artists (Trip and Lecrae) are
describing the “high life” of wealth and fame, admitting how not only are
there critics out there trying to bring them down if they slip up, but also
admitting that they are sinful individuals as any man and must regularly
stay in the Word of God if they want to be protected and continue to serve
Christ.
23Beast - ANDDD...
yes. keone brought me here.
Mal V Moo - I don't understand the negative comments. This song is pretty dope and the
message is dope too. The bible is a weapon and for your enemies you drop
verse on em and pray for em. The cabin in Manolo= dwelling in him. Turn up!
CovingtonClan - I am shocked at all the hate from "christians" who throw scripture around
very arrogantly. If the music does not minister to you DON'T LISTEN. I
have youth who have replaced listening to Drake, Kanye, & ect... I have
introduced 116 and opened up talks about Jesus because of these men of God.
Keep up the good work and glorify God. We are praying for you.
Edwic Brown - this is like music u can listen to because if you dont listen to other non
christian rap songs this wha you cold listen to
samare cadet - This song is really nice , i love it & it teaches a great message.. i just
wish they spoke the little slower and the beat wouldn't be so
distracting... but other than that please listen to it carefully.. this
isn't one of those songs you listen to and you immediately get what it is
saying , each phrase has it's own significant meaning.. so please research
and listen to it carefully
Andrew Almond - The tones in the beat are really cool, they have an otherworldly techno
sound, which is sweet. The verses were good too. I also enjoyed the flows.
We got some Kendrick-esque ish from Trip and a little bit of Chance and
Martymar from Lecrae, which is cool because all of those styles are cool.
But as a whole, I'm just not feeling it. Songs like this and Say I Won't,
for example, just really don't do it for me. The back and forth echoing in
the hook annoys me for whatever reason and at the end of the day I just
can't get with it. I respect the craftsmenship that went into the song,
but I just can't vibe with it.
kingofswing3000 - The Word of God is referred to as a weapon, a two-edged sword in the Bible.
I'm sure Yahweh is OK with Trip and 'Crae bringing the analogy into the
21st century. Like the OGGz said, "If my Bible is a gun, you catchin'
verses like a hollow point." 66 rounds in the chamber. 116 fo' life!
Henrik M - stop reading the comments right now or else you'll get upset haha
Kirb Brimstone - I'm ashamed of the lazy thinking some of these supposed Christians are
displaying here.
1 Corinthians 9:20
Felicia Hart - I am a christian and its ignorant that other so called christians want to
talk bad about them.N the bible it says you should not judge others and yet
you claim to be christian and judge someone who loves God as much as you
do.
love lovely - wait wtf I just read some of the comments this is christian rap???? didn't
expect christian rap to go semi hard lol respect
Ryan Sinclair - This song this is a bit strange and hard to grasp. It's not really what
we've come to expect from Trip Lee as a Gospel HipHop artist. LeCrae's
album 'Anomaly' was definitely a God filled album and Trip Lee's single
'Sweet Victory' from the upcoming album 'Rise' is certainly God centric but
this single 'Manolo' is more or less sounding secular and the whole gun
language is a bit of a turn off. I pray that Trip Lee, Andy Mineo and
LeCrae will continue to be faithful to their Romans 1:16 Creed and not sell
out to the World for fame, money or success. God has rewarded Colton Dixon,
Mandisa, TobyMac and LeCrae for their faithfulness to God and I hope that
Trip Lee will continue to be a mouthpiece for God in the HipHop mix without
selling out.
Sebastián Hidalgo. - i'll do it for one dollar, im talking about burn it up
Chanta Fanta - Thank you Keone Madrid.
Nick DeLeon - Killed it better then mainstream artist
efrayim eliyah - One of the dopest out
Joaquin Escalante - I support what Reach Records is doing. You guys are saying they're beats
are too much like wordly artist and if I want those beats I'll go listen to
those artist. But they are doing it with a different message. Those other
artist are praising guns, money, and drugs but I listen to Lecrae for a
godly message. They say they aren't "christian rappers" so people don't try
to tear them apart for songs without a completely christian message. Like
Welcome to America, it talks about what America has become corrupt and how
unappreciative we are, because everything is easier in America which makes
us take everything for granted and not care about problems going on around
the world. But it's not a "christian song" so you do things like delete all
your 116 albums.
Nino Cordova - No fruit, in this song. Beats nice though!
Trilly - You deleted 6 albums bro? lmao nah.
Rory Brice - Christians who are commenting should know that they are getting gods name
out there and you should also know that judging is gods power not ours UR
AWESOME TRIP LEE!
ReachRecords Fan - I fell on the floor when I heard this last night...well not literally, but
y'all know what I'm sayin. 😂😂
Matthew King - Manolo is spanish for Emmanuel. Hopefully gives more meaning to the song
Vincent Nguyen - Cookies brought me here
Daniel Decena - Keone Madrid brings me here
Jack A - What is Manolo? Not sure how I feel about this...
Artur Gaynullin - keone
Justin Greer - Its becoming harder and harder to find a christian rapper who just raps
about Jesus and the Gospel. But thats too cheesy I guess. Guard yourself
believers, Im not saying they're the devil and all that but this isn't
worship! I like worship Hip Hop. ITs been a good run Trip Lee but as with
lecrae its time for me and you to part ways...
Josh Repavich - I'm hearing that "manolo" is God with us in spanish or Hebrew or
whatever... Is that actually it?
Tyler Mauga - The moment where your left hand goes down and your right hand goes in the
air and you bend your knees and start walking backwards LOL
Oliver Coronel - Keone brought me here.
Rodolfo Vides - The word Manolo is a Spanish translation of the phrase, “God with us”. To
say that you have a “cabin in Manolo” is to say that you have a reassurance
in knowing that Jesus Christ is with you. This also compares to the
physical cabin rentals in Drake Bay of Costa Rica, where there are actually
cabins in Manolo. The term “manolo” is often used to refer to a
neighborhood of high wealth. Again, the meaning of “having a cabin” implies
taking a part in the greater image of “Manolo”, or, by accepting Christ:
owning a cabin in heaven (God’s infinitely wealthy Kingdom). You could also
say “I have an inheritance by serving God”. And he is also talking about
THE SCRIPTURES!! You have to understand, Trip Lee just came back from
learning about being a pastor... He is using bible verses the same he would
use them in a semon, He is taking and throwing them at you, hoping you'll
catch what he means, pay more attention to shweet and sweet victory, very
powerful things there... christian rap isnt always talking about how
Changed you or how God did this for you, you also gotta spread the word of
God and let them know how to use it and how its used.
